Corning and Canandaigua

On All Hallow's Eve 2004 six Americans and one Dutch tourist way off the beaten path piled into a van for the five hour drive to Corning, New York, in New York State's Southern Tier and the 29th Congressional District where Samara Barend was running for Congress.

We spent the day at the northern end of the district, in the Finger Lakes region town of Canandaigua. We hung literature on doors, from Democratic neighborhoods with Kerry and Barend lawn signs to a very well-manicured neighborhood full of foul tempered Republicans. Sam herself came through on the campaign's WINnebago, spoke with veterans, and then we held signs at the local Wegman's while Sam talked to voters until the management forced us to leave.
